Hamza, 22, is studying for his bachelor’s degree in nursing at the Palestine College of Nursing. He writes, “Away from war, violence and the bad traits of humans, there’ s a young man living here named Hamza, another copy of me. I can see what others can’t see and hear what others can’t hear. I use my heart and my brain to do so. I’m one of those who believe that success is defined by how you live.” Hamza participates in an international peer education network for youth called Y-PEER, supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). He also has been selected for an 18-month Young Leaders Project called Future Generation, supported by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Ost-Jerusalem, as well as for a three-year fellowship sponsored by Women Deliver. For the latter, he will attend the 2016 Women Deliver conference in Denmark. Hamza is enrolled in a human rights training program with World Youth Alliance and eventually, Hamza would like to serve as a “peace ambassador.”
