Ban Al-Wardi
Ban Al-Wardi is a California-based attorney practicing in the field of immigration law since 1999. She represents refugees and asylum seekers from around the world and advocates for human rights through several social and legal justice organizations. Born to Iraqi immigrants, Ban has traveled extensively throughout the Arab world, including several fact-finding trips to Palestine. She currently serves as the chair for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion National Committee for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and previously served as Los Angeles Chapter President and elected National Board member for the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). She was awarded the Voices of Courage Award for the Public’s Truth Campaign, which exposed systemic government violations against members of the Arab, Muslim, South Asian and African communities and received Congressional recognition for her civil rights work in 2006. Ban is an anti-war, anti-imperialist life-long activist and is thrilled to lift up the voices of Palestinians as a mentor through the We Are Not Numbers campaign.
