Twenty-five journalism trainees, chosen from more than 100 applicants, graduated from our first training academy. Funded with a grant from the U.S. consulate, the weeklong training was led by the Fares Akram al-Ghoul, the AP correspondent in Gaza, and Saud Aburamadan, founder of the Gaza Post. Monthly workshops will continue throughout the coming year.

The graduates now are putting their new skills to the test, and we are working to place the resulting stories with our media partners, including The New Arab and Mondoweiss.
