Every day, when I sit alone in my dark room,
Staring at nothing except the brightness of the moon,
I imagine I can hold it and use it as a lamp in my room.
I can do whatever I need to do, like reading, writing and painting.
(I don't need the few, humiliating hours of electricity we are allowed.)
Editor's note: Gazans currently report getting only four to five hours of electricy a day due to insufficient supplies allowed in from Egypt and Israel, as well as the poor condition of their own power plant (bombed in 2006 and never able to be fully repaired since then).
