“When the World Sleeps.” Artist: Malak Mattar

We Are Not Numbers has posted more than 300 stories and poems by emerging Palestinian writers in 2025. Our young people persevered through challenging and often horrific conditions (inside Gaza or in exile) to pitch, draft, and revise their work and respond to editor’s queries.

The output reflects their courage; at the same time, the process of writing has been a balm and a source of strength (see Why write in a genocide?).
