    Steve Fake is the Washington, DC-based representative of independent publisher Just World Books, which has introduced works by several of our other mentors, including Refaat Alareer (Gaza Writes Back), Leila El-Haddad (Gaza Mom and Gaza Kitchen) and Nora Barrows-Friedman (“In Our Power: U.S. Students Organize for Justice in Palestine”). However, he also is a writer in his own right, coauthoring the 2009 book, “Scramble for Africa: Darfur-Intervention and the USA,” which critiqued the United States’ opportunistic response to the violence in western Sudan. He has published widely on foreign affairs and political topics, including in Foreign Policy In Focus, the Los Angeles Times, In These Times Magazine, Z Magazine, Counterpunch, AlterNet, CommonDreams and Pambazuka.
