Patricia Kaishian holds a Ph.D. in mycology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry. In addition to numerous scientific publications, she’s published nonfiction essays in Atmos, Ecotone, Orion Magazine, and other outlets. Her forthcoming (May 2025) debut book is an interdisciplinary collection of essays threading memoir, natural history, and philosophy. Patty works as a scientist and teaches college-level biology classes for incarcerated students with Bard Prison Initiative.
