Pam Kirby

    Mentor status:
    Active

Pam has taught ESL to adults and in public elementary schools, done freelance editing and proofreading, and worked in nonprofits in the Richmond, Virginia, area as a project and office manager. Currently, she supports community outreach at an organization that coordinates services and resources to address homelessness in the region.

As a member of the reading panel for the Trans Anthology Project, she selected and edited submissions for a collection of personal essays and poems from trans youth and the adults that love them. She strongly believes that sharing the stories of our lived experiences is the purest form of connection, healing, and empathy. And the most motivating call to action.

Pam’s passion for world travel and exploring other cultures was cultivated during her childhood living in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Israel. She clearly remembers her family’s trips to Gaza, where she and her sisters frolicked on the beaches. She holds hope that one day carefree children will play on those shores again.
