Leah Harris is a writer, journalist, and mental health advocate whose work focuses on the intersection of mental health, human rights, and disability justice. Leah’s journalism and creative nonfiction appear in publications including Mad in America, The Progressive Magazine, and Truthout, as well as the anthologies We’ve Been Too Patient and the Mad Studies Reader. She has published poetry in Mizna, Beltway Poetry, and the anthologies DC Poets Against the War and Word Warriors: 35 Women Leaders in the Spoken Word Revolution.
Leah has also trained as a storytelling coach with Story District, and her 2016 one-person storytelling show was rated among the Best of Capital Fringe by DC Theater Arts. She possesses an MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown University and has completed coursework towards an MFA in creative nonfiction at American University. She lives in the Washington, DC area and enjoys spending time in nature and shooting archery.
