Gill Swain worked as a news reporter and feature writer on several British national newspapers for most of her career as a staff writer until the last few years, when she became a freelancer. She was the ghostwriter on two published books telling the life stories of unusual people.
In 2007 Gil joined the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (www.eappi.org) and served as a human rights observer for three months in Hebron. On her return, she became the editor of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s magazine for members, Palestine News, which she did for about eight years. “If you Google ‘Gill Swain Hebron,’ you can find editions with some pieces by me (the PSC eventually stopped producing a printed edition),” she says.
In 2013 Gil joined the Peace Cycle 12-day awareness-raising cycling trip from Nablus to Bethlehem. In the Spring of 2022, she joined the Amos Trust Rebuilding Hope project, helping to rebuild a Palestinian home that had been demolished by the Israeli Occupation Force. She is active in her local branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
