Bayla Ostrach is a medical anthropologist and longtime reproductive health care provider/justice advocate. She works at Boston University School of Medicine, where she helps students write ethnographies that represent the lived experiences of marginalized populations, including Syrian, Iraqi, Palestinian and Somali refugees and persons struggling with homelessness, substance use, violence, Islamophobia, HIV stigma, etc. She is the author of “Health Policy in a Time of Crisis: Abortion, Austerity and Access” (Routledge Press, 2017). Bayla got her start in international solidarity activism with CISPES (Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador) in the 1980s.
