Wendy Univer (she/her) is a writer, documentary filmmaker, and nonprofit communications consultant. In 2004, she co-wrote/produced/directed Passionate Voices, a documentary that explores the inability of American Jews to engage in respectful, constructive dialogues about Israel and Palestine. During the second Gulf War, she partnered with the American Friends Service Committee to bring first-hand accounts of the Iraqi experience to the world, as part of the Wage Peace campaign. She also wrote Daring to Resist, an award-winning documentary about three young Jewish women who did resistance work during the Holocaust. Today, her articles about arts and culture appear in the Broad Street Review. She writes regularly for Living Beyond Breast Cancer and Mural Arts Philadelphia, among other arts, education, and advocacy organizations.
Wendy volunteers with EnGIN, which pairs native English-speakers with Ukrainians for weekly conversations that strengthen their professional language skills. She is also a member of JAWS, the Journalism and Women Symposium. In her free time she studies drawing and painting, mindfulness meditation, and the Feldenkrais Method, and is trying to learn to pursue her passion for gardening inside an apartment.
