We write / to keep our names alive / to carve our stories into time.

Artist: Jan Khaled, Flyers for Falastin
We write
to keep our names alive,
to carve our stories into time.
We write
not for sympathy
but to shake the dust from your conscience.
Not for hearts or likes
but for footsteps
marching toward justice.
We write
because there is a hereafter,
a record beyond this world.
A proof before God
that we spoke
not in the names of officials
but in our own names—
in every tongue,
millions of times.
We write
because we are dehumanized
and we need to cry out!
We are human,
just like you.
We write
so if we die,
we are not reduced
to a name whispered,
or a number counted—
but a voice remembered.
