On December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the writers of We Are Not Numbers watched and participated in a play directed by Theatre Day Productions. The play highlighted role of disabled people in our society and allowed members of the audience to change the various scenes to better respect their rights and special needs.
According to statistics from the Palestinian Census Bureau, about 48,000 people in Gaza, or about 2.4% of the population, have a disability. More than one-fifth are children. Meanwhile, Israeli control of Gaza’s eastern border blocks access to the devices, electricity and technology they need to communicate or leave their homes.
