L’Oiseau Vigie bookstore in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, France, was the scene of a presentation on July 23 to mark the recent launch of the French language edition of WE ARE NOT NUMBERS: The Voices of Gaza’s Youth (Nous ne sommes pas des chiffres. Les voix de la jeunesse de Gaza). WANN writer Wejdan Wajdy Abushammala read her essay from the collection and spoke about current conditions in Gaza. WANN mentor and assistant editor Laurie Tuller presented background about WANN

Questions from the audience, numbering approximately 40-50 people who spilled out onto the bookstore sidewalk, were numerous — about the book, about WANN, and about Gaza today. Copies of the book, published by Editions Demi-Lune, quickly sold out, illustrating the growing number of people in France eager to hear about Gaza from Gazans themselves. This event was organized by a local solidarity group, Collectif de solidarité Palestine 37.
