Dispatches from the European tour to promote
the first We Are Not Numbers book:
From the top of the world,
on the roof of a skyscraper,
I gaze at the beauty of Frankfurt.
I’m so high it’s like I am soaring.
The bracing October breeze
erases one item from my wish list.
I stand by the lake
in front of Freiburg's black forests
while ducks swim.
The taste in my mouth
is so sweet.
Hanging out with new friends
on the winding streets of the city,
under the light drops of rain.
Sitting in an Italian restaurant,
eating ravioli, what I have only seen on TV.
Now two items crossed off.
This is what it is to be free:
The possibility of dreams
becoming reality.
