we are not numbers

emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Echoes from Gaza

I want to shout, scream, and cry, / For every soul beneath Gaza’s sky.

I want to shout, scream, and cry,
For every soul beneath Gaza’s sky,
Those who suffer, those who mourn,
Whose lives are torn, by war’s cruel thorn.

I’ll whisper the names of martyrs lost,
Into the wind, no matter the cost,
So their stories may travel far and wide,
Across oceans vast, with the wind as guide.

I want the world to remember our names,
To speak our struggles, feel our pains,
For we, the survivors, must not be ignored,
Our voices heard, our stories restored.

I’ll scream the names of Palestinians loud,
To pierce through silence, through any shroud,
To remind the world, we’re human, too,
With dreams, with hopes, just like you.

And in empty spaces, where bombs have lain,
I’ll carry their names, to ease their pain,
For every soul lost, every life undone,
From Gaza to the world, we are all one.
