My grandfather’s second Nakba
In 1948, my grandfather fled with only a bag of clothes. Last year he fled again—paralyzed, in a wheelchair, and carried aloft by his family.

- Gaza Strip
Yousef Alnono is a writer and student from Gaza, currently in his final year of studying English language and literature at the Islamic University of Gaza. Through his writing, he creates the world he desires to live in. While he does not believe in time travel, he believes in traveling through different worlds; he writes to escape into his own realm and reads to explore the worlds crafted by others. For him, words serve as a means to preserve memory, resist erasure, and share the voices of his people with the outside world.
