emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Yara Jouda

Yara is a Palestinian refugee whose original home town was Ashdod — now part of Israel after the ethinc cleansing of 1948. She says "writing is my favorite hobby. When I write, I feel like I'm in my own world. I can write about whatever I want, and I feel free. It's also a way to tell our true story to the world." Yara also loves reading novels, listening to music, dancing and riding a bike. She would love to ice skate if Gaza had a rink!

Yara is currently studying English literature in Saudi Arabia.

I am a girl who, in parts of the world where the people “matter,” would be considered too young to ask such things, much less know anything about them.
