emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Yara Eid

Yara, 17, lives in Gaza's Alburij Camp. Her favorite subjects at school are English and math, and in the fall, she will spend a year in the UK as part of a high school study-abroad program. Only 11 students from both Gaza and the West Bank were chosen for the program.

In her free time, Yara says she is "crazy" about reading novels and other books, loves writing short stories, is fond of music and movies, and tries to help others through volunteering. In the future, she would like to study and work in humanitarian affairs because "I think this world is awash with injustice and oppression. I want to defend human rights, to be an ambassador for goodness."
