Whispers of return
My diary records my denial, fear, and fragile hope — until the ceasefire holds and home beckons.
- Gaza Strip
Hey! I am Sara. I study English literature at the Islamic University of Gaza and work as a freelancer. You can always get a glimpse of me whenever you roam between books and novels. My mother, friends, and dozens of books made me the person I am. I write stories to live and immortalize years with countless stories about a human and a homeland that has always resisted to exist.
My diary records my denial, fear, and fragile hope — until the ceasefire holds and home beckons.
Even when we Gazans are no longer experiencing war, it continues to live in us.
I spent my early childhood in Abu Dhabi, but it was only when I returned to my parents’ birthplace that I felt at home.
I have got nothing, but I can at least pray for a peaceful night in which none of my loved ones is harmed.
