we are not numbers

emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Ruba Sarraj

Ruba Sarraj is a Jerusalemite and a writer at We Are Not Numbers. She enjoys using her free time for reading, cooking, watching documentaries, and writing (she aspires to write her own crime/mystery novel). She also considers herself to be a sports fanatic, since she has been passionate from an early age about both playing and watching sports. Her whole life she has been eager to learn languages, travel, and get acquainted with various international cultures. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Birzeit University, has  experience as a legal researcher, and is certified  as a legal translator by the Palestinian Ministry of Justice. Her main interests include international law, criminology, and human rights, in addition to a curiosity about psychology and philosophy.

My harassment at Ben Gurion Airport was due to me being a Jerusalemite, a Palestinian alien who isn’t considered an Israeli citizen or a Palestinian.
