emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Mariam Sersawy

Mariam, 22, is from the al-Shujaia neighborhood of Gaza City and is in her final year of studying English literature. He has eight sisters and six brothers–a "football team," she says. She loves reading, writing, listening to music. Her dream is to travel by plane, and one of the first places she'd like to visit is Cordova, Spain–a desire inspired by the poem "Granada" by Nezar Qabani, which she read in school.
