Jumana Taiseer Mughari

    Jumana Taiseer Mughari is a journalist and writer with a bachelor’s degree in English from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. She has written for prominent platforms such as the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs and Electronic Intifada, and she is driven by a passion for uncovering human stories and amplifying voices of resilience amid adversity.

    Jumana is also a skilled translator and offers developmental English courses to those eager to enhance their language skills. In the darkest of times and under immense pressure, Jumana found her way back to her work and writing. She says, “Amid the chaos, I discovered the strength to return, to write, and to reclaim my existence.”

    I’m a whisper caught in the city’s breath / An echo trapped in the screams of death.
    Had not this year gone by, I’d never know / That three hundred sixty-five days unfold / In ink-black shadows.
    A family rebuilds its home in Gaza, only to be forced to leave it, and perhaps lose it, it again.
