Jan Amin was born in Amman, Jordan, then moved to Beirut, Lebanon, in 2010. He is currently a science student at the American University of Science and Technology and planning to minor in journalism.
Growing up, Jan loved to listen to his family's stories about Palestine passed down from generation to the next, which in turn inspired him to learn more about Palestinian history and culture. Being a Palestinian in diaspora has its own mix of challenges, from erasure to discrimination, but he believes the toughest one is having to watch what goes on ignored in his homeland, unable to stop it. He combats this feeling of helplessness through writing, as he is a strong believer in the power of words.
Jan is very passionate about science, and dreams about being an astrobiologist. He loves to read about genetics, astronomy, and history to learn more about the world.
