For the third time …
In every home, a mother performs small miracles to hide the taste of pain from her children’s faces.
- Gaza Strip
Ghazal Hamdona lives in Gaza. At the age of 17, after excelling academically, Ghazal was awarded a scholarship to pursue her high school education abroad—a dream she had worked hard for. But in May 2024, just as she was about to take her first step toward that dream, the Israeli occupation closed the Rafah border crossing, preventing her from traveling. Her dream wasn’t slowly lost—it was killed before it could begin.
From that injustice, her words became her weapon, and her voice a voice no checkpoint can silence. She joined We Are Not Numbers to shed light on the Palestinian cause and expose the crimes of the Israeli occupation. Through her writing, Ghazal aims to raise global awareness about the reality of life under siege and the power of her people’s voice.
Current as of May 2025
