emerging writers from Palestine tell their stories and advocate for their human rights

Deena Hamdan

Says Deena: "Writers will take over the earth and headed into space. That’s what I believe. In an occupied land, a besieged city or even in the oppressed diaspora, Palestinians must realize that the ultimate power is in the hands of writers. We may be prevented from defending our land, but we still can tell share our words with the world."

A 20-year-old student of English literature at Al-Azhar University, Deena also is a translator and freelance writer who graduated from the Freelance Academy of Gaza. Painting, reading, translation and writing are her main interests.

"I’ve always dreamed of presenting something for my country that can be immortalized. And now I found myself invested in both writing and painting. I hope to organize my first art exhibition soon to express my great love for Palestine."
