Atef Abu Saif, 41, was born in Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp. He recently received his Ph.D. in political and social sciences from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, and is the author of four novels: “Shadows in the Memory” (1997), “The Tale of the Harvest Night” (1999), “Snowball” (2000) and “The Salty Grape of Paradise” (2003 and 2006). His first non-fiction work, “The Drone Eats With Me: Diaries from a City Under Fire,” was published by Comma Press (UK) in March 2015.
