Asmaa Elkhaldi

Asmaa, 19, is a third-year architecture student at the Islamic University of Gaza and a freelance photographer. She started practicing photography when she was in the ninth grade and has taught herself ever since. She has participated in many exhibitions in Gaza, Jerusalem, Amman and London, has started her own business.

Asmaa also loves English, and practices by watching videos and films, reading articles and practicing online with foreign friends. She says it is not easy being a girl from Gaza who studies architecture and takes “street” photographs at such a young age, but she is determined to make her dreams come true. "Aspire to inspire before you expire!"

    my work

It's Christmas time in Gaza, and Christians are busily preparing. But it's a special time for Muslims too.
We Palestinians struggle and die to achieve our civil rights, but we can't make them come true -- except this one.
By finding joy in riding horses, Amal shows the world there is another way of living in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
