Two years later: Remembering my stay in Israeli prison
It was a dark day when my family heard the news of my arrest, two years ago this week.
Born and raised in Nablus in the northern West Bank, Asma is a 23-year-old Palestinian girl and a former administrative detainee in an Israeli prison. She’s earned her bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Berzeit University. Asma was a student activist at her university, where she headed the Student Council’s cultural committee. She loves travelling and learning new languages, and looks forward to completing her postgraduate studies in translation. “No matter how challenging and crowded with difficulties my life has been, I still do my best to maintain my hopeful spirit and nature,” she says.
