Areej Ahmed Hijazi is an obstetrician and gynecologist from Gaza as well as a writer dedicated to the Palestinian cause. She has published numerous articles across various platforms, highlighting the struggles and resilience of her people.

During the Gaza war, she has been displaced to several areas in the central and southern regions, carrying with her unforgettable memories of pain and perseverance. Yet, she says, “amid the destruction, I never lost sight of my purpose—I defend my homeland by treating patients, dedicating myself to healing both physical and emotional wounds, and sharing the stories of the martyrs so that their sacrifices are never forgotten.

“I believe that medicine and writing share the same mission—resisting through hope, through words, and through unwavering dedication.”
